A Dahua white paper is attached that explains how enhanced PoE ("ePoE") works. It is quite technical and explains in minute detail how it works, but most usefully in section 5.3.3 and table 1 it lists typical maximum distances and available bandwidths.

Also note that Cat 6 has a slightly lower resistance than Cat 5 and so supports greater distances.
